Ronald McDonald House Volunteers Join the “Flamingo Flock”

When it comes to flocks of flamingos, SGS sophomore Mason Zarlingo is the flock master! He, junior Kat Gunn, and senior John Nowland are members of the Ronald McDonald Teen Board, which supports the efforts of the Ronald McDonald House to provide housing for families whose children are receiving medical attention. The Teen Board’s most important fund raising event of the year was the recent two-week “Flamingo Flocking.” Mason raised the most funds of anyone on the Teen Board during this event, and Kat was 4th in flamingo flocking fundraising!

Teen Board members from local high schools volunteer directly with the families Ronald McDonald House serves, attend a monthly meeting to collaborate with students from different schools, assist with fundraising, learn the ins and outs of working with a non-profit, and educate their schools and communities about the RMHC INW mission. This year-long commitment requires an average of four hours of service a month.
