Take A Closer Look at What Being an Dragon Looks Like

Community Activity

Dragon Dance

Students celebrated the start of school with the traditional Dragon Dance, where each class lines up behind the seniors (under the Dragon head and body) to form a long “tail” of red banners marching across Graduation Lawn.

Power the Dragon

Students and teachers share what makes Saint George’s special in this “Power the Dragon” video.  We are SG!

SGS Community

October 16, 2019 was a busy day on campus.  First the 8th-11th graders took the PSAT test, then listened to the band during a special Oktoberfest lunch.  That afternoon Middle and Upper School students enjoyed a variety of activities to relieve stress and build community.

Academic Activity

Rainforest Song

The 1st graders sang “Rumpus in the Rainforest” during a dress rehearsal for their annual musical of the same name in the Dragon’s Den.

Geometry Dance

The 9th grade Geometry class joined the 4th graders to dance to “Lines n’ Angles” for some mathematical exercise.

The Class of 2022 graduated on a sunny afternoon surrounded by faculty, family, and friends. Here is a look at the reception line on Davenport Lawn after the ceremony.

Music & Art

This video highlights the art and music programs at Saint George’s as the school prepared to build a new Art & Music Building in 2019.

Music Theater

“Beethoven Day” is the song of the hour in this performance of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” by the drama department.

Talent Show

The Townley Experience and the Instrumental Group performs “Good Times/Rapper’s Delight” at the All-School Talent Show in Founders Theater.

Athletics & Outdoors

Boat Races

After studying rivers, the 6th graders finish the year by racing cardboard boats across the Little Spokane River. How long can they stay afloat? Longer than you’d expect for some boats, and not long enough for others!

Dragon Athletics

The SGS boys’ basketball team earned the 3rd place trophy at the State 2B Tournament with a decisive 80-52 win over Willapa Valley on March 7, 2020. Nick Watkins poured in 35 points as the Dragons finished their season with a 23-5 record.

Outdoor Adventures

This slideshow from the Spring Out class during May Term shows how they spent a week at Banks Lake in the Grand Coulee.

Kindergarten Photos

K & 12th Cookie Decorating

The 13-year seniors visited the Kindergarten classroom to help the littlest Dragons decorate Holiday Cookies!

K Butterfly Release

After raising butterflies from caterpillars in their classroom, the Kindergarten class got to put on their own butterfly wings and release their butterflies out on Graduation Lawn.

LS First Day of School

See students arriving for the first day of classes in the Lower School. The rain started to fall, but it didn’t dampen their spirits!

Lower School Photos

Immigrant Experience

After researching immigrant lives from the early 20th century, the 5th graders dressed up as immigrants from Europe and walked through an Ellis Island simulation where family members and SGS staff played the immigration officials. All but two were admitted to the U.S. and made new citizens!

2023 Seconds of Reading

The Lower School students, wearing pajamas and with their favorite stuffed toys, spread out around the building to read with students from other grades for 2023 seconds (about 34 minutes) on the morning of January 6, 2023.

2nd Grade Music Class

Some of the 2nd graders played xylophones during Music class, while the rest of their class played a circle game to the beat.

Middle School Photos

6th Grade Musical

The 6th graders performed “Disney’s Moana Jr.” — a musical based on the 2016 Disney animated movie Moana that follows an adventurous teenager who embarks on a daring mission across the Pacific Ocean to save her people.

7th Grade Climbing

The 7th graders spent several days at Camp Spalding on Davis Lake in September. Here they are rock climbing — a challenge for them and an opportunity to encourage their friends.

8th Grade Coast Trip

The 8th grade capped their studies with a week-long camping trip to the Olympic Peninsula, where they got to put their science lessons to work identifying animals in a tide pool and exploring the rain forest.

Upper School Photos

9th Grade Campout

The freshman class spent three days camping along Upper Priest Lake during the first week of school. They had teambuilding activities and plenty of canoeing on the beautiful lake, some of it blindfolded!

FRC Robotics

The SGS FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team #1595 traveled to Clackamas, Oregon in March to kick off their season with matches against teams from across the Northwest.

Girls Track & Field

Saint George’s girls track and field team literally ran away with the 2B State Championship in Yakima. They were joined on the podium by the SGS boys track and field team, who also won a 2B State Championship on the same day in May 2023!
