SGS upper school student, Elikai, is helping make the SGS Diversity Club a welcoming place where students can connect, listen, and learn from one another.
“I want to make people feel included,” Elikai said. “It takes a whole community willing to listen, learn, and connect with each other.” The club creates space for students from different backgrounds to come together, appreciate one another, and learn about different cultures. Members can also suggest cultures or countries they would like to discuss.
The club meets every Friday at lunch in David Holte’s room. Anyone can join—students can simply stop by.
The Diversity Club held its first potluck of the year last week, where a number of students and faculty prepared dishes from their cultural heritage. It was an opportunity for students to connect and have great conversations while sampling delicious foods from around the world!

Elikai also recently joined the Across the Lawn crew for an interview where she discussed the club’s purpose, what inspired her to lead, and how she views her growth as a leader.
