Inspiring Athletic Competition

Inspiring students to participate in athletics is a part of our mission and is embodied in our no-cut policy. We believe the lessons learned in practice and competition carry over into the classroom. Over 80% of Upper School students compete on at least one varsity or junior varsity team each year.

A Winning Tradition

Saint George’s has one of Washington’s most successful athletic programs.

We’ve been the Washington State ‘B’ All-Sports Champions seven times, most recently in 2023-24.

Over the last 20 years, our boys and/or girls basketball teams have played in the state title game more than a dozen times, most recently winning the Boys State 2B Championship in 2013. Our teams also have found success in Northeast 2B league and district competitions and place high at state in multiple sports. In 2016, our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams won State Championships on the same November day! Girls soccer added a second state title in 2018, while the boys’ team won another championship in 2019.

Our students also represent Saint George’s well in girls volleyball, boys and girls tennis, boys baseball, and boys and girls golf – with both teams winning State titles in 2014. Our boys and girls cross country and track teams also boast State Championships, most recently in 2023 for both the boys and girls track teams. The girls remarkable 4×400 relay team has won State Titles in the same event for a record seven straight years!

The Saint George’s community embraces our athletes’ talents as equally as it applauds our actors on the Founders Theater stage. There’s nothing like a passionate fan dressed in red and white yelling, “Go Dragons!”
