On Friday morning, the fifth-grade class grabbed life jackets and oars—fully equipped for adventure—before heading down to Graduation Lawn for some canoe and water safety lessons. Luckily, SGS’s Director of Outdoor & Community Service, Melanie Mildrew, was there to lead the way, with the help of some US students from the Outdoor Program.
After a few friendly “brushes” with trees lining the banks—an experience every adventurer must endure—they skillfully navigated past Graduation Bridge and set off downstream on their waterway journey.
