SGS Robotics Team Reaches FIRST District Championships

On April 3, Saint George’s FRC Team 1595 travelled to Portland, OR for the FIRST District Championship. Over the course of three days full of intense matches, the team fought hard to earn a spot in the top ranks with the ultimate goal of moving on to the FIRST Championship (Worlds) in Houston, TX. See a Photo Gallery of them at the event.

Pitted against 49 of the top teams from Washington and Oregon, The Dragons were able to secure a spot in the finals, being second choice to the 5th Alliance Captain. Their alliance won their first match, but lost their second, making the third the deciding factor in the loser-out bracket system. After a nail-biting game, the alliance lost by only 17 points. The Dragons finished the event ranked 21st, only four spots away from moving on to Worlds.

“It’s been a great season, and the team is already making plans for next year,” says Michelle Bledsoe. “We want to thank the Seniors on the team (Cassidy Clelland, Mason Foster, Austin Julsen, and Steel Lindauer) for devoting so much time and energy to this year’s success. We wish you all the best when you graduate!”
