Jain Wins March Madness Chess Tournament

Congratulations to 3rd grader Asmi Jain, who took 1st place in the K-3 section of the March Madness chess tournament on March 9th in Spokane. “She forced a draw in the last round to secure the top spot,” reports SGS chess coach James Stripes. With 109 players, this was the largest local youth chess tournament since 2008. The other SGS participant, 2nd grader Melody Ji, opted to play up in the K-7 section and earned a medal for her performance. Go Dragons!
