Girls Track Repeats as State 2B Champions

Saint George’s girls track and field team literally ran away with the 2B State Championship in Yakima on May 25-27! Sophomore Josie McLaughlin won both the 800 and 1600 meter races and provided the anchor leg of the winning 4×400 relay race. The SGS 4×400 racers — Kala Reaves, Bella Buckner, Regan Thomas, and Josie McLaughlin — won the event for the seventh consecutive season in a time of 4:12.73. Josie, Bella, and Regan also finished 1, 2, and 3 in the 1600 meters.

Other strong finishes included Bella Buckner’s win in the 3200 race, Kaylee Clark posting a school record 34 feet, 7.25 inches in the triple jump for 2nd overall, Margreit Galow was 2nd in the long jump and 4th in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 300 meter hurdles. Henri Osborne took 5th in shot put, Berkely Hestdalen was 5th in the 300 hurdles, and Kala Reaves finished 6th in the 800 race.

The SGS girls already have state titles from 2022, 2016, and 1995. Congratulations on another championship season!
