COVID Update for Start of School

Saint George’s will continue to follow guidance from the Washington Department of Health (DOH), Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD), and CDC as we move through the year. The good news for the start of the year is fewer COVID related restrictions in our daily operations. The health and well-being of our students and staff are paramount, so we ask you to continue to follow the protocols now in place to help limit the spread of Covid among students and staff.

The Basics:

  1. If a student is sick or symptomatic (COVID, flu, common cold and/or fever) stay home.
    a. COVID tests are available at school, free of charge, and available in each division or can be taken at home.
    i. Positive test – students will be required to stay home for 5 days or until a negative test. We will require students to test before returning. Once a student tests negative, we are still recommending masks through day 10.
ii. Negative test – students can return with a negative test and improved symptoms or without fever after 24 hours.
  2. There is no requirement for quarantines due to “close contacts”.
  3. There is no requirement for surveillance testing (as a precaution for sports, trips, etc.) unless required by some place students will visit (i.e. Whitman College requires non-vaccinated students to have a negative test).
  4. We will continue to utilize air purifiers and maximize ventilation efforts in school and on the bus.
