The SGS community is invited to explore our newly renovated climbing gym, Katie’s Rock-Climbing Adventure Gym, named in honor of former SGS student Katie Thew.
The updated space features brand-new rock-climbing walls and mats, along with a beautiful mural and plaque celebrating Katy’s life and legacy.
A huge thank-you goes to the SGS Booster Club for generously funding the new mats. We are also grateful to the SGS community volunteers who helped out last May during our Climbing Gym Community Workday, as well as our incredible Facilities crew—George, Jelena, Orin, and Sean—along with US faculty member Alexis Sampson and alumni Carson Field and Alex Watkins. Their hard work and dedication helped Melanie Mildrew, Outdoor Program Director, bring the vision for this renewed space to life.
Come see the new and improved climbing gym during one of these open-house opportunities:
- This Thursday: 5:30–6:00 p.m., before Middle and Upper School Parent Night
- This Friday: 9:15–9:30 a.m., after LS Assembly
We hope you’ll stop by to see The Krag and celebrate this wonderful addition to the SGS community!
